My 206 is very unreliable so im wanting gsi as my main car.

I have found a few but im just concerned about the mileage. They all have at least 70k on the clock some of them 100k plus. Thats alot of mileage for a little car

How many miles have all your GSI's got and is there any common problems i need to look out for?

105k mine has now.
I have covered nearly 30k since i bought it a year ago and its never given me any grief at all.

Check the cam belt rollers and other normal Corsa stuff crack in pillars etc....

What do you base that on - one bad experience?

Not overally compaired to its competition.
Vauxhall's in general are very realiable.

seconded, i had endless probs wit mine

egr valves common to bugger up and theyre not cheap to sort out either

wouldnt get another one, i know a few ppl who had em and all have had same probs as mine did, iacv, egr, camber,driveshafts,

Why do people insist that they are because of their own personal experience.

Vauxhall is still using a variation of this powerplant so there cant have been major problems!

the only thing to watch for is on the very early C16XE's vauxhall had a habit of putting in unsize pistons that was the only recall.

My comments are not only based on my own personal experience but on the CORSA GSi as a whole.

I undoubtadly understand people would have had problems but you cant hold that bad experience agaist a whole model of car at the end of the day.

i agree teddy but its like any car, if you had a lot of bad experience with one your not likely to buy another one are you

i wouldnt trust another GSi id expect it to have too many problems

This may sound silly but I'm new to this 'world' of gsi. What is the difference between the two C16XE engines and X16XE?

Im guessing the C16XE engine is in the very early gsi's??

they tend to have a plastic inlet manifold where an X16 has cast one

and theyre without EGR iirc?

mines fine...not had a problem yet, brought it in november. It depends how people treat them to how reliable they are. Same as all cars. Mileage isn't really a problem as long as everything has been well maintained. Mines done 89,000

bullshit, more like you hear a few people having issues with the engines, but how often do you hear people saying "yeah last week i drove for 200 miles and didnt have a problem!" use your brain.

My N-reg GSi has caused me little trouble...

except the oil filler cap came off on the way to liverpool a few weeks ago & pissed near all the oil over the engine...

aswell as the fuel-pump getting noisy...

but thats all!

The last X16XE engines were made in 2001 and the first in 1995 and nothing changed in those 6 years so obviously it was doing something right in them six years for Vauxhall not to change it.

Im no way a muppet when it comes to cars BUT i had no end of trubles with my GSI, took nearly 3 years to iron them out when i sold it it was perfect and was the first time it had been since i bought it.
