depends on the car, i would say if its something thats becoming rare, and people want, than its better to be standard, but i think people should pay more if the getting a corsa sport with alloys, zaust etc than one without, not a lot more tho

just arguing with tesco at the min over value for my car
He basically has not got a clue what to value it at so he did a search on autotrader and because it came up with cars valued at 5k he is now saying its because they have 17's on and mine had standard wheels on therefore it is worth less

Depends, cars are worth what people will pay for them.. If its really chaved up it goes for less usually but if they are subtle mods and look good then they usually go for the same or more... lower engined Vectras with GSI kits can fetch a lot more than they would standard but stick a peco and some spinners on and its worth less than a tramps underpants

modified cars are worth less plain and simple
Unless you had a new for old or complete replacement for none standard parts on your car then you wont get any money for them.

Your welcome
The car market looks at it and says its been modified so its harder to sell so hence the lesser value.

i disagree, depends on the mods and the car.
look at dealership, optional extras cost more, and still increase resale value at time of sale, they still mods
really does depend on the mods, not talking stupid boyracers mods, like big spoilers, pretend sports exhaust and cheapy suspension kits.
but sensible alloy wheels and better stereo equipment (again not big subs and amps on view and cramped into boot), things like that should increase value
value is created by the customer tho, its what they pay, people can only make estimates

I agree, if two cars side by side, one has a really nice set of wheels and expensive stereo system the other is standard... i would be going for the non-standard one or pay more for it... some modified cars actually look more "loved" than standard ones esspecially ones that are members of enthusiast clubs... i think at the end of the day it depends what mods are done... If one car has venoms and the other has speedlines then one is obviously going to be more desirable so you can't just say "modified cars are worth less" because they are not always...you aint gonna pay the same for a car with £1000 wheels on...

I think a car with subtle good looking mods (Wheels, engine & few other nice touches) can be worth more to a buyer than a std one!!! However id pay more for a std GSi than one nedded up with TSW Venoms, Combat kit & Lexus lights!!!!

i know but its a good example of why you can't say:
"modified cars are worth less plain and simple "
depends who, how and why

Yeah if your selling to a garage the always prefer std as it widens the market the cars sellable to!! However personally if I was looking for a car to buy myself id probably go for a lightly tuned / subtly modded one.........let some other cunt lose there money for a change!!!

standard..if you want to modify it, you can do this yourself. Otherwise, no guarantee of workmanship of modifications
