Hi all, I've a bit of a problem and hope maybe someone can help.
Recently my car has been having a intermittent problem. When pulling off from stationary the car sometimes hardly moves, just slowly trickling forward. Then in a second or two (seems like ages) the car moves away normally. It's like there is no power in the engine for a second or so. I should mention that this couldbe happening at other times too, but it's not going to be as apparent when moving.
When the car isn't trying to move it isn't revving like the car is out of gear, it's just normal (albeit without any driving engine noise).
I feel like it's happening more often, so any pointers would be very useful.
Thanks
Michael

It's a W reg Sxi, so whatever that is.
Looks like I might need a trip to Vauxhall then.

Cambelt tensioner loose? Thats lethal mate, if your belt actually slipped it would mash the valves into the pistons and kill the head! What did they charge you £560 for - surely not to JUST replace the belt/tensioner...
Yeah it will be a 1.2 16V, I had the same lump in mine. Really does sound like an idle fault as your struggling when going from idle to accelerating... About £75 I believe from Vaux on trade club...

Umm, not sure how to answer that. I don't have any problems with it , as far as I know.

Cahine set up though, so not the same issues as the rubber band counterparts

it was the day i bought the car on the drive home.
cost £560 to have most of the head stripped down, and all the pulleys and cog things on side of engine were fcuked.
i wasn't pleased, but got the man who sold it to me to pay for most of it

Really annoying now, getting a bit dodgy. It's like i've got my foot on the brake for a second or so during accelerating, very strange!
Defo time to see Mr Vauxhall

Well I thought I'd say what happened just incase people using the search button also have the same problem.
I took it to Vauxhall where the Tech 2 test found no problems. Then then went out for drives in it 3 times, changing something each time they returned. I was sat there for about 3 and a half hours reading Mens Health from 1998
They couldn't actually find what was causing the problem, but they : Updated the ecu software, reprogrammed my idle air control valve and cleaned the throttle body.
The cars problem seems to have gone, but idle rpm (and in general) of the engine has shot up. I'm lucky if it lies at 1000rpm after ten minutes of driving. It's also fluctuating, not much but the needle moves 2-5 mm, something it never did before.
I'm wondering whether the new software takes some time to adjust to the car(hence the fluctuations), or if this will remain always. Any info ??

I had that on my ECU upgrade too. After a few weeks it all seemed to have adjusted itself back

Weirdest thing is the fluctuations. I can be sat still and the engine will wobble over a range of about 150-250rpm. So you had that Richie ?

Sounds about the same, but that prob seems to be sorted now. See above for how they sorted it. I only paid for the Tech 2 test (£41 inc VAT).
