Right this is not a major problem, more of an annoyance, thought id see if anyone can shed any light for me.
Basically its not behaving. During any gear, at 1900-2100rpm its really juddery and lumpy. If u change gear in say 4th, the needle hitting 2000rpm when u change. If u take your foor off the accelerator then put it right down, the car for a split second doesnt react then its lumpy when u accelerate for a second then fine??
Im not great at explaining these problems bu in EVERY gear its juddery at 2000rpm, when its cold its even worse!
I have absoloutely no idea what it could be, Or weather my cars running right, im guessing it should be like this tho!
Any ideas would be helpfull
Cheers guys

Seems like its missing a beat, maybe change the plugs and leads and give it a good service?

It feels like misfiring i na strange way, not that i am pretending to know anything about engines, but im thinking it could be something to do with the injectors??
Ollie it had new plugs and leads when i brought it, not gone that far in it tbh wouldnt have thought they would need replacing,
Do you reckon my lifters would be contributing to this as well?

i get something simular in my 1.6.... if ya plant yer foot down in say 4th gear at 30-40MPH it will judder and 'spit' and make strange noises from the airbox area... i put it down to it needing to be mapped but maybe not i dunno?

Could be the crankshaft position sensor.... It shouldn't be the lifters, all they do is sound really noisy when they are on the way out.

Jambo, I'd check that when you slightly open the throttle it "clicks" as it opens, then check the plugs on the TPS, AMM, and crnak pos sensor, and clean out the TB with some carb cleaner.
Siberia: Yes the 16XE's will start without the crank sensor in, the ecu light comes on and it uses the cam phase sensor, but is on the "limp home" mode. Also means the bottom pulley has fallen off, when someone that was meant to tighten it did

you see i do be clever by diconecting this every night to stop thiefs but to my surprise the other day i forgot to reconnect it but the engine still started i thought there were demons at work.

TPS - Throttle Position sensor on side of throttle body
AMM - Air mas meter, in induction pipe after air filter

Sounds like a ignition/timing thing. Leads, plugs, dispac, cam/crank sensors....

Did paperclip test a lil while ago and crank sensor was what it came up with, so i guess it could be that.
What should i do to rectify it, does it need changing? ithink i know what the crank is

You always get the crank sensor as the engine's not running.
I'd try close the plug gap a little, and cleaning up the plugs and TB first.

The TB is under the top hat athe back of the engine in the middle.
The crnak sensor plug is located by the left struft and goes to the front of the engin ealong with the CTS loom and the dash temp sesnor loom too.
Sib- if you want to imobilise the car, remove the coil plug

Cranks sensors don't normally wear out they have no moving parts, but the cable degrades.
Yeah regular carb cleaner and a rag to remove and cud round the butterflies
Lee- is there a resiastance on the LET TPS's that is meant to be for shut throttle, cause the sutter sounds more like the TPS is out and light throttle upsets it a little.
Oh yeah, that offer of a spin in a 20XETB'd corsa is open, will be running in about 4 weeks, or in 7 fully mapped up. could do both for a laugh, will be in your area.

So how much do u reckon a garage would charge for changing the lifters,
If the lifters are £160 plus the labour that gunna be about £300????

£160 for lifters, then £16-20 rocker cover seal £2-4 cam seals
+3-4hrs labour (cause they like to mince)
I'd put up with the lifters and fix the running pro first
