hi, i have just bort a portable dvd player:
http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/506_216011.html
it says that the DVD player is DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 enabled, which m eans that it can be connected to an amp/receiver and movie s ound can be played in DTS or Dolby Digital 5.1
so can i connect the two audio connectors (white and red), to one of the pre out on my alpine head unit, so i can play the audio through my cars speakers system,
any comments? or answers?

dont connect it to a preout, it will probably cause damage.
What headunit u got? I can tell you if it has an Aux in.
Btw u do know you wont get 5:1 sound from ur car unless u spend a shedload of moolah

alpine says your headunit does support the versatile link tech so u should have an Ai-Net connector, pull it out and have a look

there is only two black cables coming out the back of the unit, 1 for areil and one is a dedicated sub pre-out, so u can controll the level of ur sub from ur head unit, its just im hoping there must be 1 cos the alpine website says that it has 1, but i cant see 1.

I do apologise then, i just read the manual for that headunit and it doesnt support it.
If you want a cheaper temporary solution, you can get an FM modulator but the sound quality isnt amazing.

Basically it converts your DVD player output to FM radio, so you tune into the frequency that the FM modulator allows (usually has a few) and then you can hear it through your speakers

allows you to connect thru aerial i believe?
you should be able to get reasonable money for yours, so upgrading to a new unit wont cost u much and is a better option IMO.
