whats the difference between these two types of speakers, which ones tend to be better and why and what features do each ones have???

im considering Alpine 17cm front components, as many people have them and say they are good, but ive never really been clear on this component/coaxial business

components are 2 bits, mid and twetter with a crossover

coaxials have the tweeter inside the mid speeker

components are better but more expensive (in general)

many people have Alpine components and say they are very good!!!!?

but anyway, im willing to pay a lot of money for good speakers, but for now say budget is about £100 for front speakers and £100 for rear speakers, which comps would be better than alpine in that price category then???

and are alpine V12 amps ok though???

the amps and comps are both harsh imo, i changed from my alpine amp to a audison amp and on the same speakers the audison was a LOT louder and smoother sounding, so i personally dont rate alpines amps.

huh! what do you mean by harsh mate?????
which Alpine speaker model did you have and which amp exactly??

i have a old Alpine Headunit, 60x4 with 3x 4volt pre outs, running a 2channel 180x2watts V12 Alpine amp on some old 2way Alpine 6x9 SPS 120wat speakers(not even type S or R) and it sounds fantastic!!!

and even many of my mates have said it sounds good, in terms of clarity, bass and trebble!!

exactly, scratchy, i had alpines best 4 channel amp, bridged onto the components giving out 140 odd rms a side, still was harsh and nasty and was a £450 amp..

I have a mrd-m300 mono amp and its pretty rubbish especially in SQ terms, you could try the NEW alpine amps tho, they look much improved.

Such as MRD- M601
