Think I got busted on a piece of road that is a 40 limit. The road is straight and a dual carrigeway. I thought it was a national limit and anyone that drives it probably would too. I come down about 50-55mph and see a Van parked up. I was looking at it and figured out it was a cop van at about 100m. Visibility was poor as it was raining at the time. I eased off and when the speedo was at about 48 saw he was "gunning" my car. . What does this mean? The other copper weas doing something with another (public) car that I thought had been pulled.
The reasons I didn't ease off more was because:
i. I thought he had pulled the car and was doing something with that.
ii. I couldn't see what was going on that clearly until I was within 100m.
iii. There is a slight bend on the end of the road where the lay-by was.
iiii. I thought it was a national. Saw a 40 sign on the other side of the reservation.
I have read the speeding threads on here and know that everybody automatically thinks "Your stupid", "Should have been doing the limit" etc. This thing he was gunning my car with, How does it work? It was shone at the front of my car. It was at night with my lights on. Does it take a picture?
Any Advice would be appreciated, and sorry for the essay.

If it's an officer standing by the road then thye have to pull you over to charge you, only fixed camera's and "mobile safety units" produce NIP's in the post.
If so 14days to wait.

98% certain they have to stop you there and then. Wait a couple of weeks and see if you get a letter.

Would be good to hear if anyone has (and they knew it) been clocked by a lazer and didn't hear anything?

im pretty sure that they have to pull you over if they just have a gun pointing at your car, i dont think they will be able to send you anything as you need to see evidence of being caught which is why they pull you over and show you the gun

yep it's pull you over or nothing.
They probably weren't bothered or they seen it was a corsa and thought it was lying

That's a bit of relief. Obviously need to wait 2 weeks and see what happens. But I turned left and got straight on the M27.

i think they need to pull you over to validate your details. because the gun doesnt rad your numberplate like a photo does. When they pull you over they ask all your details etc, and get you to sign a form to confirm you were the driver etc.
Im 99% sure your ok, but as people say, wait for the next 14 days, if nothing, then its all good

Yup, this is the truth
Sounds like you got away with it
Only if it was a fixed camera in a van should you be worried

If the police man was in a marked police CAR then its a traffic cop-no luck in trying to get away with it there twats but thats their job when they read u the verbal nip
'your being reported for the considertion of the offence.......'
as soon as they have said it repete the words
'i do not reconise the significance of those words and therfore wish to up hold my right to see a copy of PACE- police and criminal evidence act'
they have to have one or get one-about 120pages of useless shit but wud take an age to read and they want to catch more people ive been let off with this before or if not just piss's em off which is good cos you just got 3 points and £60
the legal side says that they have to bring a speeding 'summary only' offence before the court within 6 month, with the leagal process thjis means you have to recive it within 6 weeks if its an nip through the post
normally only 3 weeks though and if there pullin people and didnt pull you cross your finger and hope
id say your likly to get away with it
--dont speed-- but if you do dont get caught!

I've been told by my college tutor that a speed camera will allow you to do up to 10% more than the actual speed you're doing? I.E. 40mph camera will allow up to 44mph?
dont quote me on this..anyone else heard it?
