My alloys were painted black, how do I get the paint off them?
And also how would I go about re-doing them myself?

All 4 of mine bits have peeled off coz was a crappy job so wouldnt be a good idea to paint straight onto them
Also I know places can do it for me but I want to do it myself not only to save some money but so I can actually say Iv done something to the car myself coz so far Iv paid for everything to get done and fitted

You don't need to take the old paint off, just rub down the old job so its rough enough for the new paint to stick to but there are no edges where paint has flaked.
Ideally wheels should be powercoated and not just painted as the finish tends to be more durable. You need special gear for this though.

Its more like chipped off and then it keeps coming off so if I was to sand it down id need to take all the black off it. Its hard to explain I'll take a pic of one to show ya tomorrow what I mean

I know what you mean, sounds like the whole finish is weak, ideally you need to sandblast first before powdercoating.
Certainly need to take the tyres off as well, big job all in all.

lol, cant blame a girlie for trying , its prety much the same as ya would repairing paintwork on the car and as sri said sand down to key the surface, if you really want to get all the black off dont think that should be a problem either as long as the surface is nice and rough for the paint to stick to
few coats of primer let it dry for a few hours then put 3 main coats on, then 2 maybe even 3 coats of laquer.
tigra looks nice is it those wheels on it your repairing?
moggs.

i did wonder if you were going a different colour as i wondered why ya wanted all the black off, if it was repairs most of its just a rubdown till rough then base coat then laqure, if ya unsure about it have a go on a bog standard wheel wont matter if ya damage that and its good practice

240 sandpaper, or an orbital sander with 240/120 grit pads

If I sand it will it not damage the alloy bit?
Its hard to explain this but its like a hard coating which is on top of the alloy
Its not like a spray paint or been brushed on and its stuck to the alloy

That's the powder coat. Sand down through that, to find the alloy. Sanding won't harm the alloy unless you really go at it.

Bit of the paint has come off when I kerbed it and damanged the alloy just a tiny bit so surly rubbing it with sandpaper would scrap the alloy would it not

if ya dont go hammer and tongues at it it will only leave minor scars on the main alloy which after a few coats of primer wont be visible
