anyone got any advice, been going over the car found some bitsw and bobs taht need sorting out, rust patches, stone chips and anoyying light colour patches down the doors where the red go faster stripes used to be!!!!
just had a new wing mirror and had to spray it, done a phat job, just need to laquar it now.
my only worries are mid panel jobs where you have to blend it in. theres no way im paying some pikey garage bloke to do a job half hearted when i can do it.
anyway rambling on, anyone know much about blending in new paint to old paint?
also, the nasty standard arches and black bits on bumpers, any advice will be greatly taken on board.
my shed...

i been doing some repairs on my smoke grey corsa with rattle cans, not the best method but saves some money and stops the rust.
on plastics i use 80grit first, that gets it really rough, almost furry looking, then 120grit and then 400grit, until its smooth, then a plastic primer, then i use filler primer, let that dry 24hrs, then sand with 800grit, and repeat till very smooth, then paint it, rub it down lightly till flat, then laquer it

i have used 1200grit wet for the rubbing down of paint but just used plain paper this time.
will get some photos of the mirrors, they just drying now
i've used halfords and vauxhall cans, but have found them both to be slightly darker then normal

When's best to apply the lacquer?
Soon after the top coat of colour is dry, like 15 minutes?
or
Wait unitl following day, lightly sand, then apply?

don't know i never done it, think u leave the existing laquers, and when u spray new stuff move the masking tape further out with each coat of paint, then laquer and use a rubbing compound

£1.99 metal polish from Morrisons, works just as well as more expensive G3 cutting compounds...

they not bumpy, thats the metallic bits shining in the camera flash
