Finally got around to doing my calipers this afternoon. They were more corroded than i first thought too. To say they were tight was understatement too! Which is where we came across our first problem! The head of the bolts had as good as rounded off by the time they were off, which means no car tomorrow! Then when we had struggled and eventually got the pads out they were no good too! The inner pad on both calipers had worn right down to the metal, but the outer one was fine. So once the bolts and pads were out i went round the caliper with a wire brush then a wire wheel attached to a power drill. I wire brushed and heamery clothed the caliper pins down as there was quite a bad build up of rust on them. The calipers were then given a blast over with the compressor . Then they were given a coating of celulose followed by the Hammerite.
We never got round to doing the rears, theyll have to wait. When i do the rears ill also go over the Subaru lettering on the fronts with black Hammerite too.

Did mine last week, took me ages!!!! Did the rears as well tho!
Went for the subtle black with anthracite lettering, and the less than subtle 335mm discs! Couldnt make my mind up for ages between black or silver, but these Mintex pads Ive used are really dusty so I went for black so I dont have to clean em as much!

Rears done now too:
The old bolts were badly rusted and the heads rounded off on the front calipers. Not a good picture but heres the state of them:

Like the calipers, but the hubs look gash and the paint will burn off quite fast

No they wont. The rear hubs were painted last year and there arent any signs of flaking or chipping. I thank you.

Would imagine the rear hubs not getting too hot. Im only going by my own experience with my car, and the paint now not being noticable, and practically all gone around the hub where i painted them.
