how long does swelling take to go down???
because 2 weeks ago, playing football, i was cropped. it hurt
anyway, for a week i cud not put pressure on it, but for the last week i cud walk on it. the problem is, it is still swollen and only hurts when ever there is the lightest pressure on it (it being the acctual swollen area), and i mean sugar it hurts, i just wondered if anyone knew what the hell is going on with my ankle as it is starting to get on my nerves now.....................any help would be appreciated, thanx

Could be a fracture as said, or something musculatory,, like ligament damage.

IIRC, tissue damage is often much more painful than bone damage.

Get yourself to A&E like stated... If you leave it, it may heal in a weird position (the bone), and have many problems in the future...

For christ's sake, go to your doc or the hospital. Just get someone that is paid to fix this stuff to look at it. What on earth are you afraid of? If you go to hospital you get to see nurses in uniform, they smile and sort you out.....what is your problem??????????

Does it hurt to press on the fibia above ur ankle? Swelling can last for quite a few weeks. Whenever your resting you need to keep the ankle elevated above your heart. You need to find out whether it hurts above your ankle though in case you've fractured it.

Thats incorrect, swelling can last for quite a few weeks sometimes months. I know cos I did exactly the same thing as this guy has done. Been back to the doctors three times. I actually fractured a flake of bone off of the fibia but they can't do anything about that. I've still got swelling after two weeks and the Doc at the hospital said it could take another couple of weeks to go down.
