Hi,
Someone just crashed into the back of me in my corsa b.
I have investigated the damage closeley and have now discovered that i dont only need a new bumper, but a crash panel atleast and a rear right light.
The bumper wont screw back into the panel on the right next to the right rear light, does this mean that it needs more than a crash panel? Is this write off material?
The guy said he would sort out the damage for me because he didnt want to claim and neither do i
What does everyone think?
Thanks
Tom

Its a 99/t 3 dr gls. Originally a 1.0 anything beater but now valver.
I will have a bit of trouble looking at the floor (system!), but i will try. I think behind the crash panel is dented in.

exactly what i was thinking, if u were to claim on your insurance then its your insurance that will pay, make him claim on his as its his fault or make him pay

adam b is right, your insurance will go up, but not as much as it would if it was your fault, best thing to do is get the hospital play up the pains, get car sorted properly with no expense spared like this fella probably would. then wait about 6-9months, and get a nice tidy 1500-2500k

if you claim off his insurance without involving yours thewn it wont affect your policy. If you use your insurance company to claim off his ins comp then it will affect your insurance.
System or not you need to have a look where the floor meets the rear panel.
Is it insured as having a valver in it.

shut up will it go up if he claims off the other driver! if it does insurance companies are being slightly cheeky in there policy! so long as he claims back 100% of his excess his insurance will remain unafferted

If you claim through YOUR own insurance wether at fault or not your renewal WILL go up period.
If you intend to claim then contact his insurance direct!

And u can fuck right off with suggesting he puts in an injury claim
That pisses me right off - It affects everybody's insurance premiums cos the money has to come from somewhere

It wont go up at all thats utter bollocks. When someone rear ended me His insurance company contacted me and i didnt even have to inform my insurance company about anything. It was dealt with swiftly and my insurance halved the following year.
One of my Ex's worked for an underwriters and she also told me this was bollocks

even if your insurance company gets involved, ie supplying you a coutesy car, they will claim everything back against the other bloke, assuming it was his fault, and this then wont effect your insurance, you aint making a claim, so no loss of no claims, if they did put your premium up, which they wont, move to a different insurance company!!

This is the only real pic I can get of the damage, mainly cos i cant get the camera behind the bumper!
In this pic, i have already pulled the bumper out as much as possible, but the main impact on the crash panel is in line with the towing eye.
I think the boot is bent aswell? I know atleast the light is loose aswell as the arch.
Also, how does the bumper come off? I have undone all three star screws at the top and taken the ones off underneath, are the ones just under the end of each arch?

thats pretty fooked
boot is out of line
rear 1/4 panel is outta line
the metal behind the crash panel is outta line
im pretty sure the boot floor may have a crease
need a pic of the floor
you may be lucky and get away with the boot floor not being creased

Im not sure if the rear quarter is out of line actually, it mite be that the light isnt on properly (hopes!)
How much would I be looking at to get this fixed? Just a rough estimate obviously cos you dont have all the evidence.

cant say
my nissan was hit in the back and was wrote off "crease in the floor"
but my nissan is old
im not sure how much a body shop would charge
best bet would be to take to a bodyshop and ask for a rough quote
id have to see the car myself and feel the panels to be sure
look at the boot floor thou
for any ripples at all or any high spots
take the bumper off to, its fooked anyway
