Can anyone help? my x16xe sport lost oil pressure and has a nasty sounding rattle from the top end i have checked the main bearing shells and the are fine. it seems as though oil is not getting to the top end, could this be something to do with the oil pressure relief valve or is the oil pump bolloxed? Is it uncommon for the oil pump to give up?

if you look at this pic:
in the centre of the head, above the exhaust manifold there is a small grub screw, you can use that as an inspection point to see if oil is getting up to the head, and if the passages are clear. if you take the rocker cover off, theres 2 more.

theres also 2 more on the flywheel end, under the dis pack:
never used these, but they are in the haynes as 'inspection holes'
