Raced a 406 2.0HDI in my 1.5TD and beat it! I didn't expect to.. just shows you with a smaller engine that isn't tuned, with no mods except wider wheels and I still won!

PS would the 1.5TD beat a 1.4sri???

Why were you hitting 5k rpm in your diesel.
You were most likely out of the torque band a couple of k before that

Nope not in the 1.5TD, I know what you mean with diesels though.. In our VW 130bhp, it peaks at 3000k, almost painfull to put it over those revs, but my little diesel just keeps tking the revs right up untill 5k, i don't do it that often though.. the turbo doesnt start really working untill after 2k, so u have to drive in in high revs to get the most out of it..

I have also beaten them in their 2.5Td jeap.. And can almost stay with the D Turbo.. just shows you the HDI are slower than the D Turbo..

i'm sorry to say but i still feel the 2.0 406 would have beaten you if it was driven the same way you drove your car. You may have pulled away at the start cos your car is lighter but not after that.

My old 1.4sri would probably be a bit quicker than your car and that TD would have gone past me easy as.

I dont see what the deal is. Im pretty sure the HDi is about 110 brake. In such a big car its hardly going to motor is it . The 1.5 TD's are 65 brake, and weigh about 300kg less .
