1.4 16v engine is now in but as soon as u put the key in the engine management light flashes on and off constantly, any1 got any ideas what could cause this

you need the immobiliser transponder out of the car you took the engine from  .

yeah little black box under the ignition barrel and chip in the original key too

got the ecu, transponder and chip but doesnt seem to work, is this definately an immobiliser problem or could something else cause this?

yeah, immobiliser cutting the fuel pump.
that's why it ran for a couple of seconds untill the fuel pressure depleted
