the original half life was fun on the lan, couldn't get enough of that.

The original Grand Theft Auto was amazing on LAN. You could both run about killing folk or both try and kill each other but had no idea who the other player was out of all the people in the crowd. You just had to look for someone killing folk or driving mad or whatever. Was amazing. I used to stalk my mates then when they turned away shot them.

Counterstrike is an Addon IIRC 
Buy it from places like Game occasionally it'll turn up in the preowned section of Game
