As the title says 1.4i Ls's are single point injecting this spi version and then you have the multi point (mpi) version?
But dont the spi's run on carbs aswell? If so how does this work as me an my old chap, were having a debate about it.

spi is a single injector, injecting the fuel into the carb itself, rather than into each cylinder, which is what happens with MPi

Carb and injection are totally seperate.
The Spi design has a four branch inlet manifold and the injector is at the top above the butterfly valve.
MPi design has the injectors just before the ports in the head.
Carb design uses the vacuum to suck a mix of fuel and air through into the cylinder.
