Think standards around 6950-7000 revs, i'd be tempted to get a set of ARP's soon mate. Rather pay 65 quid than throw a rod through the block.

on the odd occasion that i have taken it to rev limit mine has gone past the 7k mark , on removal and refitting of a new sump gasket i was pleasantly surprised to find some ARP rod bolts already in there

yeah i was under the impression that the cops left engines standard. too much hassle if they are getting ragged endlessly chasing crims

It's an indicated 7k cause corsa tacho reads high by a fair bit, at 7k you're shoing close to 7500rpm. nova clocks are the same.

my astra is really screaming at 6200rpm, and thats where I change.
It cant be too far wrong as I managed to run a consistent 15.2 at Pod on Sunday...

rev limiter on lowly 8v models is 6250, on 8v SRi and 1.2/1.4 16v is 6500, 1.6 16v is 6750. Not sure what peak power is made at though.

you reckon it might be beneficial to change gear a little earlier, where is peak torque? perhaps a tad under 6000 will drop you into the torque band better when you change up? i know peak torque on the 16XE is made at around 3800rpm.

where do you change then Fad? (what rpm when your really caning it?)
and someone must know where peak power is made surely?! Im pretty sure that it is 6250...
when i change at 6200, the revs drop to arounds abouts 4200, and this is where peak torque is (approx.)
when im driving hard its always in that rev range...

i have a c20xe which has had a full rebuild and is meant to have Payen bolts used but was wondering if these are any good. Running twin 48 carbs so not sure what to set my rev limit to, was thinking 7k to be safe but not sure. Is it an easy job to change the rod bolts? Dont really want to do it since there are no oil leaks just now. Rev limiter i got is adjustable
