Does or doesn't Windows Messenger get started with Outlook Express even you disable it?

I use to use ZoneAlarm

http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/promotions/microsoftsecurity/11101.html?AID=9928173&PID=1385068

Found it to be quite good.

Got a router with NAT now so dont need it.

Go to start, then run, type services.msc, then look for the 'messenger' service. Right click it, go to proporties, click stop, then once it has stopped, go to startup type and change that to disabled.

I wouldn't bother with a firewall. Just make sure you keep up to date with Windows Updates and Anti Virus.
