i been trying to find a samsung sdram for a long time and i finally found one on ebay!
the model numbers are slightly different, but does that mean anything??
will the one i found work ok and, be compatable like my current one??
and are they both 3.3V Dimm - Non.ECC or Unbuffered??
my CURRENT one in my computer is:
Samsung single sided 8 chip, (0118) korea (M366S3253BTS)-(C75Q0)
256MB Sync 133Mhz CL3
and the one i FOUND is:
Samsung single sided 8 chip, (0224) korea (M366S32563DTS)-(C7AQ0)
256MB Sync 133Mhz CL3

yes thats what i thought, but its a old computer so after i did a Bios upgrade i bought 3 different types of 256MB Sync 133Mhz CL3 ram in the past and they were not compatable!!
and its a mission to find the one i have at the moment but i found one on ebay, so just trying to make sure it will be ok

Should be fine. Are there photos of the sticks?
Compare the notches on the end of the PCB to see if they fit. As long as they're all the same number of pins (168 or whatever)

yes they look the same, 168pin Dimm, both have two notches towards one end for the fitment

It's fine then but as Cyberschplunky said, RAM is RAM as long as the Dimm's are ok.
I'm not sure about mixing parity and non-parity or using Dimm's with different latency...

IF you use different latency it'll just run all sticks at the slowest latency IIRC. It's parity and non-partiy you have to match up ideally.

oh i see, so is the latency described as "CL3" on the sticker??
if so its the same on both DIMM's
but im not sure about the parity and non parity/ECC/Buffered or not??
but i thought newer and doble sided dimms tend to be buffered and ECC??

Yes, CL3 is the latency.
Tbh, the ones you've found on ebay are identical to the one you have already so get that

i got it and it worked fine, pc is sooooo much faster and smoother
however the dram clock is only 100mhz but both dimm's are 133mhz??
can i change this anyway in the bios setup??

yes if you change the ras-cas latency from 2 to 3, it should run them at full speed.

Also, check that the FSB is set to 133 aswell.

ok the latency is set to 3, but what is the FSB???
theirs a "PCI/CPU host clock" which i can adjust from 100mhz to 160mhz???

no monkey, leave that one alone, look for one specific for RAM. setting the host clock would probably destabilise the machine
