Professional is where you get qualified to do something, ie. teaching, doctor, solicitor, etc., same list of people who can fill out your passport form.
Commercial is just for-profit.
Newgroups and file transfer are not used in any professional or commercial environment which I'm familiar with - there are too many people who can't use computers to do difficult stuff like that.

Suppose you could use ISP support newgroups, I know some of the larger ones have dedicated groups on their own news servers but that is for customers not internal communication.
File transfer, would have to be web development agency etc. or possibly something specialist graphics etc where files are too big to email.

Assessment4 - Describe the use made of the internet in various environments
EMAIL
personal - This would be used when keeping in touch with friends from around the world.
professional - This is when we can email a shop and ask questions about things or when we buy things they will email to confirm transactions etc
commercial - This can be used when companies want to send out their latest news/offerings to the public, mailing lists and sending invoices/transactions on orders.
WWW
personal - this is used when we want to make our own fun website or site to show some pictures or anything else in general.
professional - be used to showcase what services/items shop/company has on offer. Checking addresses and locations of places.
commercial - big companies showcasing theyre products etc
NEWSGROUPS
personal - people join in to groups which they have interest in to discuss with other people with the same interest
professional as above but can be used for employees having theyre own news like for nights out etc
commercial isnt normally used commercially.
FILE TRANFER
personal - can be used to send relatives pictures or any other file. Instead of mailing them thru the post etc downloading programs/music from sites.
professional - could be used like for a photographer who needs to send the client the files so they send it over an ftp or something if they need it fast instead of mailing them.
commercial not normally used but could be for companies allowing people to download a catalogue/price list of theyre products/services
CHAT
personal - this is used to keep in touch with friends and family across the globe. Can be used to send files or use webcam to see each other. Such sites such as http://chat.yahoo.com/?myHome lets you chat in different category rooms. Another way is to download a chat program such as MSN messenger/yahoo messenger. Advantages are that its fast, cheap and easy to keep in touch with people around the world.
professional people can have live conferences on webcams from around the world instead of all meeting at the same place to keep costs down etc. or like in a hospital can talk to other people in departments to get files/medicine.
commercial - is used to help people with information such as http://www.ed-coll.ac.uk/ has a chat to live operator link if theres question you want to ask.

for each service you shud provide specific examples or how ot is used within each context with details of specific urls. finally you should also discuss the advantages and limitations of each service.

Newsgroups in a commercial environment - ish - http://www.a4uforum.co.uk/
FTP would all be private addresses.
Newsgroup inside a company could be used for things other than nights out, we had one in work that no one used, just the occasional post about new government policy, syllabus changes etc.
