Yes you can. Credit card will incur a 2% charge normally but no charge on a debit card.

If in doubt, just get a building society cheque.

just go get a bankers draft.... as i doubt the garage will release the car imediatly. Not all debit card transaction are instant, and your bank may reject it because it looks a bit sus... tell them first anyway

i wanted to do this.... but the garage preffered a bankers cheque.

They wouldnt take my cash either

cheque cost 10quid or so to be written.... feckin joke

No charge from the Abbey

For some reason it feels safer using a building society cheque than a debit card.

I withdrew the cash all at once, it was a bit scary walking round with about £6k in cash, I was well paranoid

The dealer/garage gets charged a fee for switch etc.... My dad got an extra 100 off if it was bankers draft!!!

Get a bankers draft for sure it's the best way for something over a couple of grand.
