I had Hankook's on my Vectra. Lasted approx 6k miles..
Got Toyo Proxes on at the minute and i'm guessing by looking at them that these might last about 10k but they don't grip as well as the Hankooks did.
Had some Continental ContiSport's on my Corsa for a couple of months before i sold it, they were awsome tyres but very pricey.

Ive been very very impressed with the Avon ZZ3s on mine - jsut got to replace the front two now - after 2 years - but only cause my tracking got knocked when I had new ball joints on - otherwise theres plenty left on the inner edge
Theres a road into my village which has my favoutrite bends newhere in the UK - and I love to push the car as far as I can round them - these tyres dont disappoint in wet or dry weather- very grippy and big contact area

steer clear of P6000's! expensive and worst rain tyre ever!
I can spin my wheels up in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in my MR2 with them on!

i gues you have been using the toyo T1-s tyres?
if so try a set of toyo T1-R tyres.
they've changed the profile to have a better water-discharge and to solve the problem of fast waring
sorry if my englisch sucks again.. just a dutchie here..
here's a pict of my T1-R tyres
