10/07/2005 Sunday Car BRSCC ARP F3, Ford saloons, Fiestas, Super Coupe, Star of Midlands FF1600 £10.00

On Sunday 10th July BRSCC will organise there best meeting so far this year at Mallory with a 9 race programme including Saloons & Single Seaters.

The Ford saloon championship is as popular as ever and they return for the second time this year after the battle of the Easter event ended with wins for Malcolm Wise (Escort Cosworth) & Craig Owen (Sierra RS Cosworth). On that occasion Wise was hard pushed by Brian O’Conner who set the fastest lap. Others to watch for in the big class should be local Barwell runner Tim Watson in the Mill Street Motors car and Bob Ross who retired out of the race last time with mechanical problems.

The FiestaChampionship is also set to have the sparks flying, torsten Keen taking the honours here before with Andy Neate & Brian Roper running close behind.

The ARP championships make there debut visit of 2005 to the Leicestershire circuit, the powerful Formula 3 Cars will be a great spectacle and possibly the fastest single seaters on the 2005 fixture list to visit the track for racing.

ARP Formula 3 originated 12 years ago with the sole intention of providing serious competitors with the opportunity to own and race proper F3 cars. The championship is open to any Formula 3 car constructed between January 1985 and December 2001. There are two championships running on one grid, Class A and the Masters Class.

Class A is for cars built after the 1st January 1993 up to 2001 (Fixed until end of 2004) .

Masters Class is for cars built after the 1st January 1985 up to 1992.

The championship operates a handicapping system, which has been derived from experience. This system provides competitors with an equal opportunity to compete on a level playing field.

The winner with the highest score throughout the season will be awarded the overall championship. This could be a Masters or A class car, with a separate award for the Masters champion.

This season fitness and car preparation will continue to be a significant feature, as each of the 12 championship races and qualification periods will be of 25 Minutes duration. It is not a championship for the faint hearted!

ARP F3 continues to retain its original promise of fast clean racing, whilst monitoring and controlling undue cost escalations

The day will include another of the Star of the midlands FF 1600 races which have been recently dominated by Gavin Wills. Stuart Kestenbaum took a second recently with a good third by Dave Connor.

The programme of races is completed with a couple of all comers saloon car races which should see a whole multitude of different cars back on the tarmac.

Racing from 13.00 and qualifying from 09.30.

Admission £10 adults, Children FREE, Parking FREE, Paddock Admission FREE
