No, when you download Quicktime it installs iTunes also, so you do do it in iTunes...

You don't need quicktime, I wasn't aware you could download iTunes as a standalone software package... I don't use it

Jus go into Edit, Preferences and Import... change type to mp3 and whatever bit-rate and then just right click the song and click convert selection to mp3
