was just wondering why so many manufacturers give the rating of their prducts at 14.4 volts when a car battery is a 12 volt. Alpine seem to give their ratings at both levels but why is this? is there any way of upping the voltage to your amplifiers? This would obviously be met with a substantial increase in power output. Can you buy higher spec batteries to fit in that run at 14.4 volts? Any info would be great! Cheers

Your altenator will kick out about 14volts, meaning that your amps and your headunit are running at 14 volts already, when the engine isnt running your battery will then kick out 12 volts
