Certificates are issued by the authorised dealer that sells and fits it iirc.

Speaking of which, got a GSi thos afternoon and want to put a Cat.1 on it, always had Toad in the past and not had any problems with them but I can't find anyone realible to come and fit one for me, so I'm thinking Clifford and getting it fitted by GAP of Sextons - any gen on the models etc etc?

NO! Don't even think of fitting an alarm yourself! High quality alarms like Clifford and Toad don't even come with fitting instructions. They are complex, none of the wires for them are coloured and they need to be set up correctly or they are a real hassle....

The fitter will give you an insurance certificate.

Its not bullshit.

Part of the category 1 specification is that the alarm must be fitted by a qualified and recognised installer.

If its not fitted by someone in this position then its not a cat 1 alarm, its just an alarm that you fitted, and if you tell the insurance company that it is a cat 1 alarm, you're lying to them.

And no I don't talk bullshit.

You wont get the certificates mate, i tryed but its a no go!

And imo wots the point in having a top quality alarm bodged fitted, let the pro's do it and do it well, at least ur mind is at rest which is wot alarms are there for!

could u answer me a quick question please

do the certificates come with the alarm and then need filling in by the fitter?

or dose the fitter supply there own certificate after they have fit it?

the only reason i ask is because i have been offered a brandnew alarm. but he says there is no certificate with the alarm. and the fitter will supply the cerftificate after they have fit it i dont wanna be buying an alarm thats no good.

cheers

1. Your question has been answered about 3 times now.

2. no

3. The fitting company provides you with the certificate.

They wont change the certificate over to ur car mate, unless ur VERY lucky, but otherwise the certificate wil be valid to the otha car anyways!

But all the same still get it fitted by the pro's, got my G5 concept 650 fitted for £65 and i only brought it for £150, saved a bit!
