why do the lights on the clock in the centre of the dash go dim now and again ? in my last one they would go dim, then be fine for a few days, but in this new one they are permanently dull and only just readable.

Blown bulbs, bad earth, bad power supply, flatt battery, buggered alternator.
Get your multi meter out and get testing stuff

the clock goes dim when you put radio on, or lights,
like it will be bright, then when you put raido on it will slihghtly dim, then side lights it will dim more, then main beem it will go dimmer again.

its probably the mfd itself, the connections inside it have probably come loose and you just need to solder them back to make a true connection

You need to get replacements from the scrappy. Theres two screws located behind the vents, get the vents out and unscrew em and the top should lift off giving you access to the clock unit thing and the bulbs screw out the back, they should be green and stick out.

Stick a couple of white leds in it, they will be plenty bright enough.

i thought the same, only one of my bulbs was gone, picked up two from the scrappy and i was in luck. just rape the scrapyard of all the bulbs and youll find some that work.
