got a 1mb ADSL connection at the moment and applied to have it regarded to 2mb.

Few days later they gave me a refund and didnt say why.

Asked them why and got a The speed you get can be dependant on the quality of your line. If the noise levels are too high then it can effect the speeds you can get.

I know other people using the same exchange few houses away using 2mb with the same ISP!

Is there much I can do?

ring them up Timmeh and tell them other people in your road have got 2mb etc...

if they don't upgrade you'll go elsewhere

How did you find this out?

Just found Plus net which seems like a decent deal 2mb for £21.99 on a monthly contract. Also people seem to say about it that if you recommend others your broadband becomes cheaper

its not the distance though its the noise on the line, you could live 100 yards away and still haeva noisy line, best bet is to get bt to investigate the line

yeah but for that distance there shouldnt be to much noise, Bt Wholesale products are normally good for 2Km no probs,

as skinz said you can get BT to play with the line.
