got broadband but in my housr there is only one phone point and thats downstairs.

want move my PC upstairs so got two options:

dad is BT engineer so get him install a new phone point upstairs

have got £60-70 quid spend on a wireless network.

just not sure what go for wireless router wise

need wireless card and rounter. Modem is USB BTW

or would a usb to ethernet adaptor work if a got a router that only accepts ethernet connection for modem?

You might as well just get the new phone point put in upstairs. Can't really see the point in having a wireless network if it's just for your PC. Might be different if you had a laptop as well that you wanted to use all over the house

i agree cant see the point having wireless internet for a pc
its ideal for laptop though

Kerry is your laptop and pc on a shared account as I'm getting a laptop soon and want to use it with my wireless access point that shares the same modem as my wired pc.

Anyone know how I'd go about setting this up or do I just have to plug in the wireless access point then get the laptop to respond to it and the internet will sort itself out?

yes its on shared BT broadband with a wireless router

the pc is on an ethernet cable into a network card and the laptop is wireless

we got a cd with the router from BT and that told you how to set it all up and then we was away

hope that makes sense as i know jack shit about computers
