I know its a common question but can anyone give me prices / info on each of the 2 options.
Im also worried about reliability as the car is a daily driver, is it possible to get a reliable conversion?
Also can anyone reccomend a good place to get the conversion done?
Thanks

IMO buy a converted car......
As you get "teething" probs at first....

Checkout the FAQ adrian
Basically rebuild the engine and it will be reliable so long as u dont thrash it to peices but they are bullet proof. Both mine and steves have been known to run on very little oil
as redsport says there will be teething problems!

Lee Mitchell off here provides a really good service, very friendly, has done lots of XET/LET conversions and all at a very decent price.

I use mine everyday Adi & its fine
As long as you don't abuse it it'll be reliable. (In theory, some seem like they're cursed)

Mines run low on oil too!
depends on how mad you want to go with the LET as to reliability.....
The best advice is buy a car already done! The teething problems can be nothing or everything, but there is no way to predict things!
LET all the way for my money though, no point in doing things by halfs...

he is doing my conversion at the moment, fromt he day he started work on it he has said i should have it back in 1 week, imo thats bloody quick for a full conversion for someone that works full time as well!
he's a top geeza wouldnt take my car to anyone else now.
by the way every1, what would you say to a punto 1.4 turbo vs XE?, got a friend who wants to race me at the pod when it gets finished, punto is just running an exhaust and induction i think, mine will be runing de cat, exhaust and cold air feed/induction with a stripped out back end, opinions?

I have abused plenty of Punto Turbos in my Astra... some noticably quicker than others, but I havent had one beat me yet, so the XE in a corsa should murder one...

punto turbo should run mid 15's 1/4 corsa xe should run mid 15's 1/4
your astra ran a very quick time for some reason, this isnt what they generally run though

qtr mile isnt the be all and end all....
but if you wana go there then a 160,000mile GTE 16v minus rear seats and a parcel shelf ran a 14.9 at pod
