just put 6 channel amp in car running 6x9s, components and sub, got interferance from engine when i rev it, and indicator noise aswell,
any ideas, would it be coming through the 3 phono leads i am running down the car

Have you got power one side and phonos the other side?

check the routing of your cabling, all mine (signal and power) run down the passenger side of the car, but all of my cable is shielded properly.
Did you use cheap stuff? 
Failing that, try using a supresser, you can pick em up cheap enough from maplin.
