A539's are a shocker. Great in the dry, useless in the wet. I span the wheels in the wet in my RST on the motorway once with A539's on it. Shit tyre, wouldn't consider it for a car with over 100bhp. And they die fast.
Get a proper tyre if you're running the astra in your sig, F1's, P Zeros, Pilots etc...

I'm not sold on Toyos, you get mixed reactions. Most people with hot hatches say they are great, but bigger more powerful cars have been known to tear them to pieces in a couple of months. I wouldn't put them on the back of my MR2. Eagles F1's everytime for me.

Yokohama tyres I'm led to believe are "soft compound" tyres; meaning they wear quicker than other brands.
I've had Toyo Proxes T1-S tyres before, nothing to write home about. Same with my current ones (Falken ZE512).
Ross - I might have to try the Goodyear Eagle F1s next time I have to purchase new tyres!

When buying a new set of alloys is it worth paying a extra £40-£50 quid for Toyos over the budget tyres as a upgrade ??????

I have Toyo T1s's on at the mo and they're pretty good, wear a bit quickly but at only £30 a corner they're good value for money

Toyo T1's are a good option for 1.2/1.4 because if u have a big engine they wear so quickly due to the soft compound its unbelievably - that said in the dry they stick so well but in the wet its extremely easy to spin or slide on them.
for that reason, if ure budget is ok i'd get pilot's or f1's
