thats what i thought.
seen on the kent cams site, there is a coloumn for valve clearance
for 244 cams, there is 0mm
but for everything else it says 0.25mm

if you can take the pistons out your self then its not to expensive

I dont like the idea of cutting into the piston get some forged jobs and wilder cams

wilder than 280???!!!???

..... take it its running TB's, ECU verniers etc?

new pocketed forged pistons can be had for about 4-500.....

if you were to pay someone to strip pistons out, mill them, then re-fit is it worth it?

the pistons are already pocketed as standard i think, so the pockets just need deepening??

you'd need to speak to the cam suppliers.... find out lift etc

yup, just deepen the pockets

so i need to find out the difference in lift etc from the standard cam, and machine out enough so that there isnt a collision between piston and valve

is that imperial or metric?
0.060" or 0.060mm

i assume imperial as 0.060mm is bugger all

**edit** just looked at the grid, and for the bp285 kit it says the lift at tdc is 0.058"
and for the bp300 kit its 0.108"

so would i need to have 0.110" machined out?

from what iv been told by j1400, 2mm pockets are what you need for 284 kits, also look at cat cams, they are good and alot cheaper. the actual pocketing is about £100 ish maybe less depends where you go. its the work involved.

Mmm, i might go in for 8......i hope your rebuilding you 16xe to the daddy's! No more smoke rob lol It went well against my valver bottom end........bronze valve guides...

I read up alot about valve springs and the material they are made of and important factors, quite good but cant find it!

Also some places advertised clearances arent what they say they are, not very accurate anyway.

Does porting involve matching to your inlet and exhaust or not?

Have you thought about getting a quote from SBD.........i know they work on 20xe's alot.
