Just read this...

As an antidote to expensively kerbed alloys Vauxhall has introduced the so-called Structure wheel.

Fitted as standard to the new Vectra Exclusiv at first glance it has the appearance of an alloy wheel. But it is nothing more than an old-fashioned steel wheel with a bolt-on plastic hub-cap. Its advantage lies in the fact that the plastic hub cap costs under £16 so all four can be replaced for less that the costs of refurbishing one alloy wheel. As the cover is also held in place by the wheels bolts theft is far more difficult than with a conventional wheeltrim and its virtually impossible for it to fly off when the car is in motion.

Not a bad idea really . Just make semi decent steel wheels, then put trims over the top suited to the design, so they look like alloys.

Proberbly limited to the design of the wheel though, but still pretty niffty. Expect to see it on Corsa's very soon .
