Author horrible noise when i start car

only done 9k miles, but over the last 1000 or so, when you first start it from cold, makes a really horrible 40year old rover starting sound. its got plenty of oil, its a 1.4 twinport, would switching to optimax for a bit help?

like a "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" noise for a second or two then it is normal idling?

mine makes a noise when start it up. last for a second it's a really horriable noise. i though it was my hydraulic lifters.

If anyone can help

as above-any z10xe,z10xep,z12xe,z12xep,z14xe,z14xep engines can be in a recall range with vauxhall. go down to your dealer and get it checked-basically the tensioner for the belt goes slack causing chain to have too much slack-the noise you can hear is the chain rattling on the chain pulleys

just checking the corsa b 1.2 16v engine could be effected then?

The X12XE engine in your corsa B makes that rattle noise when starting when the timing belt needs changed. The tensioners auto adjust and when they cant go any more the chain rattles. Its not legible for the product recall however. Mines done 80K and definatly needs changed!

mine does it everytime i start and move away, like a rattle but only last a second or so... do i despiratly need to get it sorted to as it does it all the time from when the car has been switched off!

its been doing it for about 4 months lol
