I've just flushed the engine in my C and put new oil in and new oil filter but its still making really wrong noises, what else could be wrong? Will the tappets have to be replaced and how much does this cost?

You sure its deffo your tappets?
Even if it is, for a new ish car i'd see it pretty bad for them to be knocking already...or even at all

DONT use engine flush. its a gimmick, will do more harm than good.
emty oil, flush with new (cheap) oil, then fill up with the good stuff.

Your lifters will be fine after 30k miles. Is your oil pressure light on, also how long have you run the enigne? You need to fill the engine with 15w40 oil and leave it to run for a few minutes to get the oil warm and flowing round the head. Don't rev the engine while doing this, and make sure the oil pressure light is not on.

if it sounds like your tappets then it isnt (i know that sounds weird but trust me) it is you cam belt tensioner and one of the pullies, i had this on my 1 litre, thought it was the tappets, took it into vaux and they had to change them bits, its not too cheap though so be warned!!!!

alright thanks everyone will look into that.
It's deffo got the right oil in but i only got it a few months ago so maybe its had teh wrong oil in before i think?
I let it tick over for a few mins with the flush in then ran it at 1500 revs for about 10 mins before i drained it and i've drivin it with the new oil in so it has had time to get round and stuff
ill get the cam belt checked

It;s now a month later and i have had the cam belt checked and have been told is it a hydraulic tappet, sticking or something? However i was told that it will be ok until the car has done a lot more miles yet and just to ut up with it as its not going to do any damage to theengine as its only done 30k, does this sound right

it might cause a bit of damage but more to the point the valve that the sticky tappet is on will not open or close properly
