hey ppl.

my gsi's mot runs out at end of the month (28th).
im just wonderin if mine will pass or not

the only thins im not sure if it'll fail on are:
- emmisions - the valve stem seals smoke under acceleration
- windscreen - small stone chip on drivers side

other than those i can c y it shouldnt pass.

ne1 have previous experiance about smokin corsas n mot's?

cheers

james

they test for hydrocarbons and co2 in emmissions tests, so i doubt burning oil would affect the emmisions too much.

it depends where the chip is if its where the wipers cross i thinks its got to be smaller than a 5p out of that it can be a bit bigger the smoke if it was all the time then you might be in trouble but it should be fine

valve stem sills unless you have found a sneaky way round it is a head of job doing the seals is easy its just a lot of work.

generally valve stem sills when they leak will cause the car to smoke on first start up then clear till the next day not all the time or accelerating

u not leakin it r u?
yeh its the stem seals on mine as ive done a compression test n its all ok. ive just got a new head 2put on mine but it wont b bak from bein flowed till after the mot is up. mine doesnt smoke on idle but it does wen u give it the big'un n puffs between high rev gear changed wen the seals r under alot of pressure. mine uses about 1l of oil a week altho it used 1l of oil gettin 2 PVS 05 but then i woz racin a cav v6 most the way lol. as 4 replacin the stem seals, its a piece of piss. u can do it wit the cyl head on by usin an airline 2 presurise the cylinder bore but its alot easier wit the head off. u need 2 take the valves out n then the seals will pull off the valve guides.

i would say get it compresson tested so you know thats cool it could be a slight leak from the valve stem seals it could be a slightly sloppy piston ring and then when it gets warm its cool
