picked up the X16 on sunday night
got it out of the car on monday, due to being weak and needing to hire an engine crane
started stripping it down monday afternoon, inlet manifold off, starter, alternator, pipes, wires, sensors etc
booked wednesday afternoon off work and went to brosters to strip the rest down
engine is now in 4 piles, which are:
Block (which has been tidied up and given a lick of paint)
Head
Gearbox
Bits
the engine is in superb condition, although i'll be using the 1.4 head i think, as we arent sure what the valve stem seals are like
i've spent so much this week on parts
i have brand new:
Gasket set and headbolts
alternator belt
cambelt and metal rollers
oil and filter
fuel filter
coolant temp sensor
and engine mount
only thing left to do now, is get the engine up in the air to replace the gaskets
then get swapping, and put the cams in the 1.4 head while its off
cant wait

i thought that if you fitted a 1.4 head to a 1.6 block, you had the basics of the x16xel engine? altho i suppose with all the headwork carried out it probably wouldnt make much difference anyway.
sounds good though, i need to get on with mine soon

yes x14 head on x16 block = x16xel, unless you use x16 cams then you get something rather strange

well i was almost right then
good job i have neither, and in fact have what appears to be a multi million pound SBD head, cant find any markings on it anywhere. must be good though as they are expensive. well thats my theory
