'lo guys , havent been on for a while due to work, moving house, wedding arrangements etc but im back for some advice.

Went to Southend last night for a night in the casino, but on the way home in the 40mph zone there are shit loads of speed cameras. We had our detector in, as normal, and stuck at 35-40mph all the way until it hit 70mph zone. Now, the problem is one of the several 40mph cameras flashed us twice, yet we were under the limit as we knew the camera was there so was extra careful. there was no other cars around us, so im guessing it definately flashed us but the question is, how can you go about contesting it as if our speedo was that far out, every single active camera would have caught us.

Has anyone gone about contesting a fine that they got when they know they were under the limit and falsley accused of speeding? Should i just sit and wait for a letter then take it to court?

Cheers

might have just been a dodgy camera flashing when it doesnt need to, if you weren't speeding i wouldn't worry about it

if anything happens, ask to see the picture along with the calibration certificate for that camera

when/if a ticket comes through, tell them your ex GF was driving and has since left the country and has left no forwarding address, you have tried to contact her but to no avail, heard this on Kiss FM, never know might work.

sometimes they flash at random intervals just for spot checks (ie, tax out of date, insurance, etc...)

but if you do get something, ask for proof of the picture & also manual speed calculation with the road markings

the way it works is it takes two pictures, the lines in the road indicate the distance travelled between the two pictures, at a certain speed between which they were taken,

its like estimating your time home, if your 6 miles away from somewhere, travelling at 60mph ull get there in 6 mins, it can work ur speed out by the lines, thus it will show if ur speeding or not, if ur not speeding u wont hear anythign

I was flashed once coming the other way from a light, just before i got to the dectection hump, never heard anything, probably the wind and i wasnt even sure the camera was set up for the oppisite traffic

If you do get a NIP in the post, ask for the evidence and of you want to contest it then do so, that is when the lines on the road are used, each one is something like 5mph so they can see how many you covered between the 2 pics
