Never been in a 1.6 Corsa. Seemed nice and fun. Was completley standard except an induction kit. Loved the brakes No matter how hard he tried they wouldn't lock up! Shame it was pissing down with rain though!

I cannot comment bout GSi's performance but i got a 1600cc 16v SPORT and i reckon that they are pretty slow, i know they are a few bhp less than the GSi tho (Sport 106bhp & Gsi 109bhp).
Personally reckon my SRI 1400 16V i had before was just as quick although im runnin a set of 17's on it now so that may make the difference.......
Reckon that the Corsa is the worst of the 1600's tho, a bit worryin
Take a look at these small cars that most chavs drive:
Citroen Saxo VTS 120 bhp (0-60mph 7.7 seconds)
Peugeot 106 GTi 120 bhp (0-60mph 8.2 seconds)
Vauxhall Corsa B 1.6 GSi 109 bhp (0-60mph 9.3 seconds)
Vauxhall Corsa B 1.6 16v 106 bhp (0-60mph 9.5 seconds)
Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 101 bhp (0-60mph 9.9 seconds)
All figures taken from the Performance Statistics section on this website.
Opinions ???????????

What alot of people forget is the fact that when vxl built the corsa GSi, they originally built it with more bhp than the mk3 astra GSi, to which vxl had to restrict the 1.6 with heavier & bigger inlets etc..., they had to change the performance of the 1.6 as mk3 astra cost more & should in effect have more bhp, than a 'lower' model.
Though i have to agree the 1.6 vauxhall engine seems crap compaired to citroen's 1.6 VTS or pegueot's 1.6 GTi, but at least its faster than a Ford 1.6S engine

Rubbish.
The Vauxhall C16 and X16 are great engine - Vauxhall limited them really badly thats all. Play with them a bit and all hell can break loose
Even Vauxhall themselves regret not giving the 1.6 a little more

think he means in standard form! also why compare it to a vts and gti, its slower, yes! but its a hell of a lot easier to insure......
alos they do like to be tuned...much to the annoyance of people pockets

Thank Broster.... I meant in standard form so Teddy get off your high horse
I know how tunable the little XE's are & you know that, it irritates me when people compare them to VTS & GTi engines as Vxl originally built C16XE 12yrs ago!!! & didnt have much choice but to restrict it.....
