I dont no the most about computers, but i wanted to try giving this a go. At my uni house, 5 of us on a wireless router for the internet, wanted to set it up so we all can share files quickly and share printers.
Seein as theres a wizard for it i thought it couldnt be hard, ran that on everyones computers and.... nothing. well, nothing on 4 computers and 1 guy can see my shared files, but no one elses.
how did i cock it up! how can i go wrong? the main thing thats bugging me is me and him are obviously connected, but y cant i see him? and how did i manage it on his and no one elses?
quite confused. sorry for the essay on something probably simple

well, if your all using a router.. and that has an IP Address of say..
192.168.0.1
then assign everyone an IP address:
192.168.0.2
192.168.0.3
etc
etc
then who ever has the fastest PC, just create a shared folder.
If you want you can also Map that folder on the other PCs from the tools option in 'my computer'.
By mapping it you will have a direct shortcut in everyones 'My Computer' then, just as long as their PC is on when you try to access it, everything should be ok
make sense?

Just right click on any folders you want to share and go to sharing options.
Then look for the drives in my network places.
If you are all on the net you'lll all have ip addresses already.
Run that wizard on all computers with the options that suit your situation best.
