I donot think you can do a swap for 500pounds.

The most important thing is 60hp of 82hp? So thats SPI or MPI, X14SZ or X14SE?

An other camshaft and good full exhaustsystem will help.
But the best way to go is a swap to 1.6 8v from the Opel Corsa A GSi (= Vauxhall Nova) or Opel Astra.

Look for a set of twin carbs and an ignition management system, not sure how much that will cost though...

you need a cam, a 4 branch manifold and de-cat pipe, a vernier pulley and a good rolling road set up! dont bother with a conversion. my 1.4 was fast as fook! then take things further with a gas flowed/skimmed head.
