as ive sold my other door builds well selling next wee(sad day) but needed to be doen to help sell the car, so i needed some new ones so made a start last night:

first cut the speaker grille thing out and then made a ring and a couple of struts for it:

then i stretched some fabric round it and then resined it:

then i mixed some fibrefill up and spread it inside the fabric and abit on the outside:

quick trial fit:

as far as ive got so far but only spent 2 hours on them last night and an hor today so happy with the progress, a long way to go yet tho

was abit bored so decided to make a post sorry if its boring

Lookin good fella! What you gonna do about the staples?... it would have been easier either glueing the cloth down, or better still, putting a rebate on the outer edge of your speaker ring. Not that it makes much difference to the final result (and judging by your last efforts, they should be very good!).. just makes it easier to build.

That looks good. I could get as far as doing all the MDF but I haven't a clue when it comes to fibreglass
You could make a fair bit of money on the side making pods for people if you have the time

im gonna be spraying them silver yeh so lots of sanding to do yet

They havnt cost me anything yet, i had the wood let over from something else aswell as the fibrefill, but im getting a new tub of fibrefill and a new tube of filler tomorrow for £20 so £20 then what ever it costs to paint!

Stubs the staples will be removed and the fabric cut back to the level of the ring then filler over the top flat so it will be like my other ones which i did the same with and they sit pretty flat!

was quite funny i put loads of harder in the fibrefil as i wanted it to go off quick and anyone who has used it will know it gets hot, well mine was steaming

get the filler and that 2moro, but wont have anytime till next week now to do them, but on early shifts next week so will have a good 2-3 hours a day next week so hopefully get them ready for painting by the end of the week!

it makes it heavier yeh but not a great deal IMO and the strength which can b made very quickly and very easily is much better than resin and mat and easier to use!

im gonna serioulsy think about it, BUT first im gonna see how long it takes me to finish these then if its a resonable amount of time then i would think about it yeh!

How much are a set worth in primer(sprayed by the body shop and rubbed down ready to spray)?

use foam instead of cloth, gives it extra strength and is lighter then fibreglas too so they dont weigh as much, and i use mat instead of paste, its cleaner and more controlable

i didnt wanna use foam as one i didnt have any and no experience of it and to me i just dont think it will be strong enough, although it probably is!

Yes they weigh abit more this way but at least i know they are strong you can hit fibrefill with a hammer and it wont even dent!

ive used mat before and found fibrefill to be alot easier to apply as i can put it inside the build to give strength rather than having to lay ontop with mat!

Oh well different people different preferences i spose!

did my old builds this way and they turned out alrite!

if you have the speakers, measure

i think the 17cm is the outside edge of the speaker, but might need abit more for the suround!
