Following on from the other thread, been thinking about it alot recently.

Started at an art college this year cos I kind of bummed out last year, doing a BTEC National Diploma in Art which is equivalent of 4 A levels at B grade or something like that. Also got 2 AS's.

Just wondering would anyone happen to know what grades are generally needed and in what subjects, and what the course really entails? For anyone actually doing it or something similiar, would be cool to know where abouts and your thoughts. Doubt il get much response though. Any help is appreciated

When I was going in for it, you need a good base of art and design, if you can work in something like physics it's a bonus as you can feign an understanding of mechanics as well as styling.

The requirements vary from course to course, the main three in the UK are at the RCA in London, Coventry (where saxo_corsa, SXIBOYO, myself and some others from cs have been), and huddersfield.

A lot of it is down to a good portfolio, if you can show you have potential they'll take you on. After my interview day, I was offered a place almost unconditionally, the only reason they gave requirements was to make sure I didn't just doss through my A levels

You do remember correctly, but as I said, a lot of it is down to portfolio.

From what I've heard on the grapevine, the system is changing soon to allow greater specialisation here too.

Went on the Huddersfield site, according to the entry requirements. All i need to do is complete the next year of my course at college with so many ucas points. Its definately possible and sounds really good.

CorsAsh what is the course your doing specifically? How would you rate it?What do you actually get up to? and How much relevance does the course have to ICT, Physics and Maths skills?

Nope, I am terminally dump at maths. Did phyics (badly), but it wasn't needed.

At cov, theres an engineering segment, but you'll have basic maths instruction etc, I got through it fine, then theres no more maths really after 1st year, unless you go towards the engineering side of things.

You really have to have a good idea of what you want to do, otherwise you'll flounder.

Just one exam, and it's a piece of piss mate - if I can do it, anyone can...

Never have another exam after that, all coursework.

I put some in, just to show progression really.

Most of my work was from Art and the other A2 in Product Design, had a mix of emotional and purposeful creativity on show from that if you get what I mean?

Gav's the one who's done all this most recently, get in touch with him and he might be able to share some ideas - he's pretty good too.

(saxo_corsa = Gav btw)
