i need a bigger screen to watch my films on and am thinking of buying a projector and hoping that i could fill the whole wall with the screen (probably about 8ft). if i was to do this what distance would the projector need to be away from the wall, cos as u can see below my room is a square, so at the most it can only be like 10ft away. does this matter? and also, where is the best place online to buy and how much roughly do they go for now?
this is my room, pics taken beginning of the year, changed a bit now, but im planning on putting the projector screen on the wall where the TV is and then move whole my tv and that to the wall where my door is facing the settee (it works, cos i used to have my room like that)
opinions?

they tend to have different lengths depending on the projector, they'll normally say though in the specs.
Ebay has some good deals normally on new stuff

my mate says that u only need a few metres and they can produce a 600inch screen abouts. does this sound right?
also, obviously the quality wnt be too good during the day, but i only want it for use at night to watch films. how good is the quality compared to rear projection tvs and that?

Looks a good find that one, you need a good lamp life on them as they cost loads to fix after the warrenty.
Also the lumens comes into it aswell, get a higher lumens for a better picture

the brightness seems to range from 700-1500. most are 800 tho, will this be fine for what i want it for? and also, a lot say typical life for the lamp. how long do they last for about?

I have know lamps to last about 10 years, but they fade easily. . . 800 should be fine really for watching films and stuff.
Just make sure your wall is smooth and if you want the full wall as your screen it would be a good idea to paint it white. . .
Anymore you wanna know?

sh1t, costs like 300quid for a new bulb. they say theyl last for 2000-3000 hours tho, so i suppose ul only end up buying a new bulb once every year or two. is that what it means with the hours?

Yeah, that should do. . .
BTW, The projecters dont usually come with a tv tuner. You will need a vcr to use as the tuner. Do you get how i mean?

i can imagine
all ill need afterwards is a decent bose surround system to go on the wall with the screen and then keep my big speakers for music n that with my tv. i know there doesnt look enough room from the pic, but i used to have my tv next to the door and the room looks empty like that so theres plenty of viewing access for a screen

im not into the dvd systems like sony and that, they jst look cheap and tacky. if i was to buy something like that, itl have to be bose. those black speakers that curve and fit into a corner perfect. theyl look amazing i think with a big screen. but anyway, ill be leaving that thread for a month or so
