Now anybody got an unsprung paddle clutch? I've just got an unsprung 4 paddle clutch, for the new project. What are peoples driving experiences with them? I'm told it will be juddery in traffic, and a bitch to launch as its unsprung.
Anybody any real life experiences with one? I've driven a few vaux's with sprung paddle cluches, just want to know how much worse it will be.. if at all?

whitout sounding completey fucking stuipid, whats the diffrence between sprung and unsprung, the plate itself, if the fact the clutch has so springs in it what so ever (most likley )

unsprung will be very very on/off action, ideal if you want to drive hadr all the time, but not if you do town driving too

ive got helix padle clutch. its ok, little heavy though in traffic. good for kicking the crap out of it though can change so fast, so pretty much as what mr marriot said above

Got AP paddle - can't remember if it's sprung or not.

I have a Helix satge 2 on the GT4, and it is great, actually lighter peddle feel then stock. Cant really feather it though like standard, more or less on or off, you soon get used to it....

Had an AP 4 Paddle in my RST, bit of a pain in traffic but awesome for driving fast. Tends to destroy the standard RST gearbox though.....

Yeah a sprung one has springs in it, this one I've got doesn't! I don't see what the advantages of no springs are???
Apart from its gonna judder my car to bits? Oh and it was cheap LOL

my next mod for me car is an exercise bike for myself, lol. 98kg's on scales at work the other day.
if its a daily driver, i wouldnt use it, but it your just gonna use the car for kicking the crap out of it then why not

I had a 3 paddle helix in my old Calibra Turbo - cuppled with 4wd the launch was amasing. Really truely was.
Yes it was heavy in traffic - it was either on or off - but like any clutch you get used to it.

are you keeping the stock flywheel or do you already have a lightened jobbie??
IMO its a heavy clutch coupled with a super light fly which makes driving normally hard work... the clutch itself you will get used to!

I had an AP 4 paddle in my Nissan 200. Hard to get it moving (unless side stepping) in traffic etc but other than that it was awesome!! Very on/off.

Mate's got one in his subaru, very juddery but he doesn't notice anymore that's in his daily driver, launches well

Were going to lighten my current flywheel for the mean time..
Paddle clutches in a 4wd are a bit different... even a normal clutch in a scoob can get a judder on I've found. Plus yuo just whack the revs up and let it out, it grips and goes.
To get a master launch in a FWD I slip my cluch a little, obviously that will be harder.
I'm certainly willing to try it, and have a bash at getting used to it. I've got used to difficult clutches before, but I'm worried this one will be even harder!

They are very difficult to slip, they are really just on or off!  I would be careful putting one in a FWD cos as you say, you do need to slip the clutch to try and dial the power in!

I'm willing to give it a go, but I'm not expecting much!
Like i can happily launch in second (deffo best way for a quick launch). But with new cluth I think that will be a no no?
Even that fiesta cossie had problems launch, and he was holding it on the limiter lol

I had paddle clutch on my corsa, i never noticed i did have until i got rid of it  so it never caused me any probs.

I'm sure it will be ok to drive, a day or two getting used to it!
Its launches I'm more bothered about, and the fact I'll prolly not be able to do them!
