car is at garage today, just had a phone call saying that the diagnostic didnt no what day it was when plugged in let alone what is wrong with it
so it looks like i am going to have to remove the engine strip it down, replace sensors, check all wiring, replace seals etc then try and refit the whole thing and hopefully it will all work then.
So what should i be buying to rebuild the engine?

it runs like crap and the EM light is on.
Not tryed another ecu, may be an option

when you say runs like crap, do you mean a misfire? a full on miss, or just lumpy running?

i have blanked off egr
have no secondary air pump
replaced knock sensor
replaced air intake temp sensor

BTW yesterday mine had these symtoms... i forgot to plug in the switchover valve and put a pipe to the map sensor that reads the air/fuel mixture..

what/where is switch overvalve? my map sensor is connected up, maybe wrong place tho i dont think so.
any books on these aengines available?

Erm, the switchover valve is located near the passenger wing towards the front of the car under the engine bay its like a black little dome thing.

sell ur engine approx £300
buy an XE about £300 as well now
come to glasgow my mate will fit it for about 400-500
Jobs a good one.. need a decent engine for a good looking car..
about 3 days to fit the XE hes done that many now!

think i am going to try take the engine out tidy it all up and refit it. may try new ecu 2 or 3 new sensors and fingers crossed

Also Make sure you have no air leaks, I was told to check this when mine was idling high and this is what it was...

its not the wiring that is the problem. it is all the vacum hoses etc
where does the bottom big hose off the secondary air pump go
|
