the mfd on my gf's tigra seems to work intermitantly... start the car sometimes and it works... other times it dont come on at all and the clock resets itself..... how do i get it off and when is it powered from?

MFDs are dodgy mine was always going wrong.

Apparently a pin works loose or something like that that needs re-soldering...

Or find a 2nd hand one in good nick

I had this not so long back. It is probably the solder round the pins that has gone "dry" making a bad contact.

To take the MFD out, roll both the centre vents till they stop, then push them round more. it will take abit of force but there will be a click and they will go round further. Inside you will be able to see 2 screws. This holds the mfd in. With these out you should be able to lift the mfd from the dash, just the cable will be holding it. Unscrew the black plastic cover (from the back) unplug it, take mfs apart. Check around te pinss for small cracks in the solder. if there is this is your problem.

usually heating the pin with a soldering gun will just re-melt the solder and seat it again, easy fix tbh
