so far two of my mates have had an MOT and had to have their aftermarket exhausts taken off, they failed on emissions tests. I was under the impression that just putting a backbox on wouldn't really effect the emmisions? this happend to anyone else?

Never had an aftermarket exhaust affect emissions on any car. That is unless a decat was fitted!

only fail on loudness if its louder than 98 db at a 45 degree angle about 5 inches away form exhaust. i should know, had to go get mine tested and was only just safe at an average of 97.9

make sure they tested it properly and have the correct equipment if its due to loudness
